MSNBC Reports DNC has come to a delegate compromise

Democratic National Committee Members Decision Regarding Florida and Michigan Delegates

A compromise has been reached by the Democratic Party on how to seat the delegates of Michigan and Florida.

If you will remember, the delegates votes were stripped away as punishment to the two states for moving their primaries forward in opposition of committee rules.

Alice Huffman, in today's meeting, declared that as a party the Democrats "Must compromise, the world is not perfect."

Harold Ickes felt that any compromise was not a fair reflection of the vote of the people. He said that he was appalled that a committee of 30 was substituting their judgement over the voter's choice. The system is flawed, but the voice of the people are the most important part of any election.

For both Florida and Michigan the committee voted to approve motion to seat full delegations from both states with each delegate having one half vote. Members denied the motion to seat full delegations with full votes.

Hillary Clinton still reserves the right to appeal this decision, and take it to the credentials committee.

Seems to me that in an attempt to reach unity, the Democratic Party is suffering from fragmentation. However, I do recognize that the party, in light of what has happened, felt it an obligation to vote the way it did. Had they have voted to deny the states any delegates, the states may have voted against the Democratic Party in November out of protest. Had they have awarded full delegation votes, the committee would have been sending the message that rules can be broken without any repercussions.

Ironically, the party members debated about democracy, and giving the people a voice in the election process. I find that ironic because this is the same party that has super delegates, which are old hands in politics which are there to vote in the right candidate should the people get it wrong.

Maybe the DNC should stand for Double-Standards National Committee.

Al-Qaeda's vision of a devastated America

Al-Qaeda's terrifying vision of a devastated America in the wake of a nuclear attack

Washington is laid to waste. The Capitol is a blackened, smoking ruin. The White House has been razed. Countless thousands are dead.

This is the apocalyptic scene terrorists hope to create if they ever get their hands on a nuclear bomb.

The computer-generated image below was posted on an Islamic extremists' website yesterday.

This, while rumors are circulating around the Internet that Al Qaeda is urging militants to use weapons of mass destruction to attack the West.

Last night FBI sources said Al Qaeda was desperate to get its hands on a weapon of mass destruction, be it nuclear, chemical, or biological.

So far that is only a dream... or, as the picture above suggests, a nightmare.

Keffiyeh Kerfuffle - Rachael Ray's Dunkin' Donuts Ad

Politics of a Scarf: From Rachael Ray and Dunkin' Donuts to Sandra Tieger and Bondi Bottleshop

The other night on a Blog Talk Radio Show, Jenn's Political Jungle, the issue of the "keffiyeh kerfuffle" came up. A keffiyeh (also known as a shmagh, shemagh or yashmag, a ghutra, a hatta or a masha) is a traditional headdress of Arab men. It is normally made of a square of cloth ("scarf"), usually cotton, folded and wrapped in various styles around the head. It is sometimes worn loosely draped around the back and shoulders. The keffiyeh is almost always of white cotton cloth, but many have a checkered pattern in red or black stitched into them. The plain, white keffiyeh is most popular in the Gulf states, almost excluding any other style in Kuwait and Bahrain. The black-and-white keffiyeh is most popular in the Levant.

Recently, Dunkin' Donuts pulled an online advertisement featuring Rachael Ray wearing what looked to be a keffiyeh because it was believed Ray wearing the scarf offered symbolic support for Muslim extremism and terrorism. The official explanation for pulling the ad was that they feared there may exist "the possibility of misperception detracted from its original intention to promote our iced coffee."

One of the critics included respected conservative commentator Michelle Malkin. Michelle complained that the scarf wrapped around Rachael Ray looked like a kaffiyeh, the traditional Arab headdress. Specifically, Malkin commented that the kaffiyeh "has come to symbolize murderous Palestinian jihad. Popularized by Yasser Arafat and a regular adornment of Muslim terrorists appearing in beheading and hostage-taking videos, the apparel has been mainstreamed by both ignorant (and not-so-ignorant) fashion designers, celebrities, and left-wing icons."

I agree that this is what the kaffiyeh has come to represent, and that the Islamic intention to normalize Islam in our society with subtle actions such as inserting kaffiyehs into our world of fashion may be the case in this situation. However, is it possible that Rachael Ray donned the scarf for another reason? Is it possible that there was no sinister intention, and this is simply a misunderstanding, or a failure to understand the political implications of a scarf?

While I am determined be a part of the effort to stop the Islamization of America, I also recognize the danger of the conservative right having a knee-jerk reaction over every little thing that pops up. Have we been battling political correctness so fervantly that we have become victims of it ourselves? Are we going to freak out every time the slightest little thing comes up that may be construed as pushing an agenda?

It goes back to what I was taught as a young man. Be big on the big things, and little on the little things. I fear that though there may be some credibility to Michelle Malkin's argument, and the blog-wide commentary regardig this, we are being too big on this small issue that may simply be a case of Rachael Ray wearing the scarf because she thought it looked nice.

Here's a case in point:

A woman wore a similar scarf to work in Australia recently. She stated that, "I thought it was a nice scarf, a cowboy scarf. I thought: 'It's black and white, no-one will say anything to me because that's all we can wear [with our work uniform]'."

After being confronted, Sandra Tieger, 20, said she began to feel like a terrorism supporter following the reaction to her wearing the black and white scarf to work. Ms. Tieger had "no idea about the politics" when she bought the scarf at the Tree Of Life store.

"A Palestinian customer came up and asked me if I'm wearing this scarf as a fashion statement or for political reasons.

"I had no idea what he was talking about because I don't follow politics at all. I just laughed it off.

"Two days later he called and complained about it."

The meaning of the scarf is apparently being watered down by the popularity of it as a sylish accessory. But the point here is, Sandra Tieger didn't wear the scarf as a means of supporting terrorism, no more than Rachael Ray did, I feel. Sure, I suppose it is possible Rachael Ray knew full well what she was wearing, and did so out of solidarity with the Islamic Jihadists - but why is it the conservative right jumped to that conclusion without knowing all of the facts?

Like I said earlier, I recognize Islam's attempt to inject their culture into ours as a means of normalizing it in our society, and we need to be on guard - but at the same time, I think we need to be a little bit reasonable, and not form a witch hunting party everytime something smells a little fishy.

Obama the Marxist

Obama Sought Endorsement of Marxist Third Party in 1996

Warner Todd Huston wrote a fascinating piece that helps confirm more of our concerns regarding Barack Obama's character, and feelings about the United States of America. According to the piece, Barack Obama sought the approval of a Marxist third party a decade ago. One of the party's goals was to move the Democratic Party leftward.

Why Obama is Bad for America

Obama-Rama ::: Reasons Why A Barack Obama Presidency is Bad For This Country

Thanks to Gawfer for the following video that will shock and amaze you about Barack Obama. . .

Barack Obama's rise to fame is a mystery. He is an unknown, inexperienced junior senator with no accomplishments. There is no content to his speeches. He preaches change for the sake of change, but fails to explain in full how that change will be brought about.

Here is what we do know about Barack Obama.

He claims to be against going to war in Iraq from the beginning. Perhaps he would have voted against it in 2002, had he been there to make a vote. But, in reality, his history of being against the war is hardly a staunch opposition as he claims; and is rather a more nuanced and cautious position on the war than the full-bore opposition.

He has repeatedly told America that as president he will end the war, leaving us to believe he will conduct an immediate withdrawal of all troops, leaving Iraq bare and unprotected, an action that even Joe Lieberman claims would create a more dangerous world, and create a safe haven for terrorists. Question: Mr. Obama, if we pull out of Iraq, what do you think will happen after that? Utopia?

Recently, Barack Obama has been urging us to negotiate with the terrorists, to sit down and have a heart to heart talk with the Islamic Jihad and the nations that sponsor such terrorism.

In a rational world with a rational enemy, Mr. Obama's recommendation would be a solid one. Of course it is better to try to talk things out with someone before committing to a bloody battle or war. We tell our kids to talk before fighting. We talked to the Soviets. We talked to China. Of course, when the left uses those examples, they fail to recognize that it wasn't presidential visits with the Soviet Union that brought down the Berlin Wall. The Soviet Union collapsed because President Ronald Reagan bankrupted the Soviet Union with a military buildup. And we didn't decide to talk to the Chinese because we feared them. We talked with the Chinese because we wanted to drive a wedge between them and the Soviet Union.

Besides, Islam is not an ideology of rationality. They have committed to eradicating Israel, and destroying The West.

In his inexperience, Barack Obama has not thought through this issue. By his statements on foreign policy he is showing America how new to this he really is. And folks, inexperience like this is the last thing we need in the White House when it comes to foreign policy during a time of war with an enemy like none we have ever faced before.

A premature pull-out of Iraq would essentially be handing over Iraq to the Islamic Jihad so that the region could be a base of operations for terrorist activity, as well as providing additional funding for their ambitions of world domination by way of Iraq's oil riches. A withdrawal from Iraq would also send the message that America is unwilling to complete its commitments, and that when faced with the adversity of a ruthless enemy, we are weak and are willing to turn-tail and run.

But the reasons for not withdrawing from the region prematurely goes deeper than that. One must enter the mind of the Islamic Jihadists to understand the mentality of who we are dealing with, and why withdrawal, or negotiations with an enemy that brings nothing to the table except the will to defeat us, would be disastrous.

I believe that Islam is an inherently violent religion, but that there is a large number of Muslims who are unaware of Muhammad’s evil actions and his call to violence. Islamic clerics are loath to teach their people about their faith’s dark deeds. Islam has made itself an enemy to all that does not adhere to its rules, and only understands violence as a means of dealing with its enemy. Only strength will be successful against the Islamic threat, and concessions, negotiations, and the withdrawal of forces is seen as a weakness by the Jihadists. And signs of weakness are answered with aggressive action.

Answer me this. After Israel pulled out of Gaza, how long did it take before Hamas proclaimed victory, and then began lobbing rockets over the border at Israel?

Barack Obama has also indicated that he plans to cut investments in "unproven missile defense systems."

That's brilliant. The missile defense system, for one, is not unproven - in fact, our technology along those lines was crucial in bringing down a crippled satellite recently. Besides, if you are so determined to rid the world of nuclear weapons, why would you discontinue a program that would essentially make long-range missiles obsolete?

He also wishes to slow the development of future combat systems.

Uh, Mr. Obama, how do you wish this nation to defend itself? With sticks and stones? Believe it or not, talking doesn't work with irrational tyrants. Just ask Neville Chamberlain.

Unilateral disarmament does not work, either, Barack. If we disarm, the enemy must do the same as well. If they don't, and we do, they will perceive themselves as stronger, and attack. That, Mr. Obama, is how tyrants in the real world play the game.

Obama supports the gruesome partial-birth abortion. Partial Birth Abortion is killing a child in the womb that is far enough along in pregnancy to survive outside the womb. Any abortion, in my opinion, is murder, but "late term abortion" is especially horrid.

I am taking Obama's word that he is not Muslim. However, Barack Obama was raised around the Muslim culture, and one's life experiences shape who you are. Therefore, though Barack Hussein Obama may not be Muslim, because of his upbringing, he will undoubtedly be sympathetic to Islam. And as I stated earlier, Islam is a religion rooted in violence and hate dreamed up by a murderous pedophile named Muhammed. The jihadists have a very real goal of converting us to their false religion, or destroying us in the process, and any sympathy to this murderous enemy is foolish, and irresponsible. I wonder, though, considering all of the Muslims in Obama's life, how the Islamic Jihadists view Obama. Do they see him as a fellow Muslim? Or an apostate?

Understand, I realize that not all of the citizens of these Islamic Dictatorships are the problem. In fact, the population of Iran is very pro-American (residual from the popularity of the Shah, and his pro-American attitude), and Christianity is the fastest growing religion in that country.

When we entered World War II we did not go to war against the German People, but against Nazism and Fascism. Now, we are at war with Islamism, a fascist tyranny spreading across the globe, and Barack Obama's weakness regarding Foreign Policy (lack of experience, talking to the irrational) would place us in great jeopardy.

That's not even counting his liberal viewpoints of Government Control over the citizens, a Health Care program similar to Europe and Canada's Universal Health Programs (think about it: do you really want the same government that runs DMV to run your health insurance programs?). If the current health insurance system is so bad, then why would government wish to keep the same model, but change the payer of that system over to the same government who didn't get the postal service running in New Orleans until 3 months after Hurricane Katrina, while Federal Express was delivering to the area in a week, and UPS in three weeks? (source: Winning the Future by Newt Gingrich)

Of course this is a man that is a member of the Democrat Party, the same party that has decided Income Taxes Are Voluntary, even though you are forced to pay them (Reid idiocy):

The Government Should Seize Control of our Oil Companies as Hugo Chavez has:

Our Troops are Cold Blooded Killers:

and is content with emboldening the enemy:

Barack Obama is not even willing to take McCain up on his offer of the two of them going to Iraq to see what's going on first hand. Amazing, isn't it? Obama wants to talk to the enemy before he's willing to talk to any Republican, or go and see for himself how Iraq is going.

Needles California Secession

Town of Needles wishes to secede from California

The city of Needles is considering breaking off from California and joining neighboring Nevada.

Interesting. We have always thought that a major earthquake would chip off a piece of western California into the ocean, but it seems now that politics is more powerful than any quake, and may splinter off a piece of the Golden State's east side.

Needles is a small desert town of 5,000 citizens cradled by California, Nevada, and Arizona. The town is 213 miles from the county seat of San Bernardino County, and is feeling slighted by the county, and the state of California.

To pursue secession, Needles would have to have the move approved by both state legislatures, as well as a majority of voters from both counties. Then, Congress must sign off on it because the state line would have to be redrawn.

Mayor Jeff Williams is not so convinced that the switch is doable, and calls the attempt to annex Needles into Nevada questionable, and the response of a "City Council throwing a fit like a child. They are thinking with their emotions and not their minds." The reason for wanting to leave the state? The Needles City Council is complaining over the county providing less financial aid for a struggling city-run hospital than the City Council has expected.

As one friend put it to me, "Let them leave. If they get hungry, they'll be back."

If only we could convince San Francisco to secede.

Patriotism Under Assault

U.S. Vet Faces Lawsuit For Flying American Flag

In central Florida an American war veteran faces a lawsuit for flying the American flag in his front yard.

"I don't understand why it would bring down the values of our homes by flying the American flag from a pole in my front yard," homeowner Jimmie Watkins said.

The homeowners' association has demanded they remove the flag or else face legal action.

The former retired U.S. Navy communications officer said he refuses to back down for the American flag.

"Our people are serving today to give us freedom," Watkins said. "To do as we like here within the law of America. It is my right to fly my flag from my pole and until a court of law tells me to haul that down. I will not haul it down. I think about all of the people who have served our nation and all of the lives that it's costs and all of the friends that I've lost."

Memorial Day Tribute, and the Free Ramos and Compean Rally Pics

Memorial Day Tribute to Heroes, and Audio of Interviews with attendees of Anti-Illegal Immigration Rally in California

Memorial Day means more than bar-b-qued hamburgers and hot dogs. It is more than just a day off from work. Memorial Day is a time to thank those who have sacrificed their lives for this nation, and a time to thank those who are currently laying it all on the line everyday to keep this nation safe. These men and women are most deserving of our deepest respect and gratitude for all they have done on behalf of our great country.

It is my sincere hope that everybody takes the time to pay tribute to those heroes who have paid the ultimate sacrifice while protecting our freedom, and also recognize the tremendous sacrifices that our Veterans have made and our active duty troops are making everyday.

Simple words cannot convey my gratitude. As a veteran myself I understand the oath, and I understand the difficult journey. However, as a peace-time veteran, I will never fully understand the taste of freedom that graces the hearts and souls of our war-time veterans, and the brave men and women currently serving in Iraq and Afghanistan.

In fact, there are only two words that I can say that truly relay how I feel. They are simple words, insignificant by themselves, but filled with emotion and honor when placed together and delivered to a member of the United States Military.

Thank You.

--------------------------------------------

Tonight on Political Pistachio Radio we will pay tribute to those fine members of the military, past and present, living and dead. I encourage the veterans that read this site and listen to the show to call in so that we may thank you personally.

--------------------------------------------

The men and women that protect this nation serve in many more ways other than the military. Our Border Patrol is also an agency tasked with keeping us as a nation safe, not only from illegal immigrants who have broken the law to be here and are tapping into a system they have neither contributed to, nor have the legal right to access, but the Border Patrol also protects us from members of enemy Islamic factions and Mexican drug cartels. One out of three persons crossing the border along the San Diego county line are of Middle Eastern descent. The Drug Cartels in Mexico are at war with the government and each other, and that war is attempting to spill over into this country. The Border Patrol is our line of defense against both of these dangers. Unfortunately, our government, which is fast becoming a judicial oligarchy, has determined that if Border Patrol Agents do their job, their actions are punishable by prison.

Two Border Patrol agents, Ignacio Ramos and Jose Compean, attempting to interrupt a cross-border drug smuggling operation, fired their weapons in self-defense at an admitted illegal alien, drug smuggler, Osbaldo Aldrete-Davila. The smuggler managed to escape across the border into Mexico, but he left his vehicle, loaded with more than 700 pounds of marijuana. It was another good bust. Rather than be congratulated for doing their job, the Border Patrol agents were charged with attempted murder, indicted, placed under house arrest for eight long months. The two agents were later sentenced to 11 and 12 years in federal prison, respectively, on charges of assault with a deadly weapon and for violation of the drug smuggler's civil rights. They remain in prison serving their unfair sentence that President George W. Bush could pardon, but won't because of his globalistic position, and lack of cajones against the liberal left which would lambaste him if he so dared.

Last Friday I attended a Free Ramos and Compean Sidewalk Rally in Irvine, California near where First Lady Laura Bush was autographing copies of the book she authored with Jenna Bush, "Read All About It!" While I was there I interviewed a number of the folks holding up signs and waving American Flags in support of our unjustly jailed Border Patrol Agents, Ramos and Compean. Tonight on Political Pistachio Radio, after the tribute to our American Military Heroes, past and present, I will play for you the audio of those interviews. Don't miss this broadcast! This will be a show you will remember for a lifetime.

Join us tonight at 10:00 PM Eastern Time on Political Pistachio Radio.

Below are photos I took from the Rally. The first is of the line waiting to meet Laura Bush. The last picture is of a woman born in South America who declares proudly she is an American, and she is the final, stirring interview you will hear tonight.

Homegrown Terrorists

Al Qaeda in America - Adam Yahiye Gadahn

Adam Yahiye Gadahn was born merely twenty minutes up the road from where I currently reside. He grew up in Winchester and Orange County. In October, 2006, Gadahn became the first American in 50 years to be charged with treason.

Gadahn converted to Islam when he was a teenager in Orange County, later attending al-Qaida training camps in Afghanistan, and served as an al-Qaida translator. The Feds have now launched a new overseas campaign to hunt down the man who has played a central role in al-Qaida's propaganda machine. It is believed that he is currently living along the remote Pakistan-Afghanistan border. His family hasn't heard from him since 2001. His parents and siblings continue to keep a low profile in Southern California. In a statement in 2006, Adam's father said, "None of us ever imagined he would eventually get involved with anything like this. Adam has gone against everything our family believes in."

Adam Yahiye Gadahn has appeared in at least eight al-Qaeda propaganda videos. In the videos he describes the 9/11 attacks on America as blessed, and refers to the U.S. as enemy soil. In his most recent video, released in January, Gadahn, wearing a white and red head scarf, ripped apart his American passport.

Gadahn's picture appears next to al-Qaida leader Osama Bin Laden's on the FBI's "Most Wanted Terrorists" web page. Four years ago federal authorities declared Gadahn a "clear and present danger to America" because of his suspected ties to al-Qaida terror plots.

When the threat that Gadahn poses is taken lightly, terrorism expert Brian Levin says, "When you can take a native English speaker who goes out there, who his part of their propaganda machine, that's something. I don't think the feds would have gone out of their way to charge him with treason if they didn't regard him as someone who is important. Terrorism isn't merely event-driven. It's message and fear-driven. When Gadahn releases his videos, it's a reminder. We're still a threat. We're still here, and you'd better listen."

Americans have become complacent regarding the threat of terrorism. Radicalization is no longer confined to training camps in Afghanistan or other locations distant form our shores. It is also occurring here in the United States.

Indiana Jones's Crystal Skull is no Raiders of the Lost Ark

Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the New Age Gnostic Philosophies

This morning, at the first showing, my wife and I viewed the movie, Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull. The movie was entertaining, was filled with action, and wrapped itself up with the current, growing worldview that seethes with New Age Gnosticism.

At the beginning of the film it is apparent that this installment of the Indiana Jones series is unlike any of the past films in the sense that it is dealing with an older Dr. Jones. His father and friends have passed on. He is older, grayer, and not as quick as in his younger years. The German Nazis are long gone, but a new enemy has risen through the new Cold War. The Soviet Union, like Nazi Germany, is in search of power, and a way to dominate the globe. This power, however, is unlike any of the treasures from the previous films, or at least unlike the treasures from the first and third films.

Indy can't pretend to be the man that he was, and the film uses nostalgia and the joke of old age as the framework of the film. The new Nazis, the communist Russians, are searching for a crystal skull - one that looks interestingly like the head of a Roswell alien.

The Kingdom of the Crystal Skull is a weakness for the film going in. The title alludes to some kind of mystical artifact and cultural representation that people really don't care about. And, like the sankara stones in Temple of Doom — the crystal skull doesn’t ring any bells for the average moviegoer.

Raiders of the Lost Ark and Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade were movies that were both set in a Judeo-Christian context, familiar to the viewer, and lending the films an aura of importance, even spiritual significance. With Raiders of the Lost Ark, they had us at “Lost Ark”; and of course in the Last Crusade, the Holy Grail is, after all, also an important lost artifact. Just ask Monty Python.

After such important Judeo-Christian artifacts, where can you go next with the latest Indiana movie?

Raiders of the Lost Ark was such a tour-de-force, and the Last Crusade, enlisting the superior talent of Sean Connery, was such a breath of fresh air after the Temple of Doom which carries the dubious distinction of being the least consequential of Dr. Jones’s adventures. Perhaps any tale the Indiana Jones writers could come up with would have been anticlimactic, and hardly worthy of the series. But looking at the three movies prior to this one, and how the second one was not nearly as good as the others, surely they could have done better than going back to mystic stone artifacts from some tribal culture.

Crystal Skull dabbles slightly with the pitfalls of New Age philosophies which lurk on all sides of the subject matter. Crystal skulls really exist, though they don’t look anything like the ones in the film, and enthusiasts tout them as pre-Columbian Mesoamerican artifacts, exceeding the capacity of premodern craftsmanship and possessing psychic or healing powers — claims connected with New Age beliefs in ancient visitors from the stars, premodern super-technology, and the paranormal properties of crystals. (Experts believe that crystal skulls are of modern origin.)

How strange is it that those that find the idea of a Christian God creating our world too fantastic, choose to believe the a race of alien beings seeded this planet instead?

Don't get me wrong. I enjoyed the movie. It was second-rate when compared to Raiders of the Lost Ark and the Last Crusade, but it was a fun fictional tale. I just wonder how many people took seriously the gnostic worldview hiding in the wings, and the progressively silly over-the-top cartoonish action scenes.

What movie-goers also enjoyed about Raiders of the Lost Ark was that Indiana Jones was vulnerable, and mortal. With each of these sequels, Dr. Jones is becoming more like a super hero, and less like the archaeologist that so happens to find himself unwittingly (or perhaps not so unwittingly) thrown into these incredible adventures. The action was a horn-o-plenty in Crystal Skull, but the realism was set aside with scenes like when the characters intentionally drove off a 300-foot cliff, breaking their fall on a tree, falling into a river and surviving. The refrigerator in the nuclear blast, a ridiculous Tarzan vine-swinging bit, and Indiana’s extended hand to hand combat fight with a much younger, taller, and stronger Russian officer (in which Indy actually seems tougher than he did against the Germans in Raiders) was just too much for me.

The film’s best moments are low-key. The return of Marion from the first movie was a treat, as was the sequence with Indy and his new found Marion sinking into a pit of sand, which makes the scene about the characters rather than the crisis they find themselves in.

However, about when I finally decided all was lost, the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull ends on a nostalgic, neat note, where for a moment the film playfully flirts with the notion of the patented Indiana Jones fedora passing to Shia’s character. But the movie is smart enough to know that there will never be another Indy — and, even in his 60s, Indiana Jones has too much style to pass the torch to some young, inexperienced kid. The fedora belongs to Indiana Jones. And in our hearts it can only be Harrison Ford that wears it, now and forever.

Fire Aboard Carrier George Washington

24 Sailors Injured During Fire Aboard U.S. Aircraft Carrier George Washington

The USS George Washington, CVN-73, was previously homeported in Norfolk, Virginia. Her new homeport is Yokosuka, Japan, and while on her way to that new home, while conducting a routine replenishment operation in the Pacific Ocean, a fire broke out. The fire aboard the USS George Washington injured 24 sailors. None of the injuries were serious, although one sailor was treated for first-degree burns and the others were treated for heat stress.

When the fire broke out the crew of the George Washington was at general quarters (high alert, "All Hands Man Your Battle Stations") for 12 hours. The location of the fire was in an aft space where the air conditioning, refrigeration, and boiler room is located. The fire spread to a number of spaces in the vicinity, but it did not damage the carrier's nuclear propulsion plant.

The U.S. Navy Aircraft Carrier remains able to continue forward with full propulsion capability. Her next fleet stop is San Diego. The new homeport of Yokosuka, Japan will follow, where she will be homeported so that she may relieve USS Kitty Hawk, and formerly San Diego homebased vessel before her stint in Japan, in the Western Pacific.

The cause of the fire aboard the USS George Washington remains unknown, but is under investigation. It took sailors several hours to extinguish the blaze. Fighting fire aboard a Navy ship is heavily trained for, and enlists all hands in the effort.

Russian Communists Offended by Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull

Indiana Jones Offends Communists - Offensive? To Commies? Jeeeeez!

Are you offended by the truth? Well, if you are Russia, and if your distorted revision of history is challenged by Indiana Jones and the latest movie "Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull," all you have to do is ban the movie.

That's right, now that we live in a society that is offended by everything under the sun, it is no surprise that Russian communists are all up in arms about a movie that dares base its story around the fact that the Soviet Union "made trouble" for the United States and her allies.

After all, it's not like the Russian communists had missiles pointed at the U.S., or were engaging in a propaganda war that distorted history and demonized American interests. In fact, by responding in this way aren't the Russians admitting to submission to Western Ideals? After all, apparently they have adopted the idiotic Western tendency to be offended by everything, and proclaim political correctness, rather than suck it up and admit that their history is one of violence, totalitarianism, and a desire for world domination.

There is a reason that the ranks of the once powerful Communist Party has dwindled since Soviet times. However, the remaining members feel they are now tasked with defending the achievements of the old Soviet Union, no matter how sparse those achievements seem to be.

But isn't that what suppressive governments do? Isn't it a normal reaction for an oppressive government to ban anything that brings their style of government into question?

Russia, thanks for proving our point.

Tornadoes in California, Illegal Immigration

Wild Weather in Southern California

During an onslaught of rain, hail, and snow, tornadoes touched down in the Inland Empire not far from where I live derailing a train and overturning a big rig.

I joked around with friends saying, "It must be that Global Warming thing." Of course the joke is funny because the average temperature of the earth has been dropping over the last eight years. In fact, that so-called "concensus" is not a consensus after all. The Convenient Truth is a lie, and according to The Oregon Institute of Science and Medicine, the myth of man-made global warming is unceremoniously being put to bed. And, about 31,000 scientists have signed a petition endorsing their findings that man-made global warming is a lie.

Tonight, after a week of hot weather, I stood in the rain at a sidewalk rally near a booksigning by Laura Bush. This "Free Ramos and Compean" rally on the sidewalks outside the bookstore where Mrs. Bush was signing compies of her book was truly fascinating. The rally was manned by an eclectic group of nationalities and personalities, all banded together to stop illegal immigration, and the governmental practice of not securing our borders. I interviewed a number of the folks. I plan to play the audio of the interviews of these fine Americans on my Memorial Day broadcast of Political Pistachio Radio, after a segment in which I thank our troops, living and dead, for their sacrifices for the liberty of this nation. On that broadcast I may also discuss how the drug cartels are taking control of Mexico, and how the anti-gun liberal left is blaming the violence in Mexico on American Gun Manufacturers. Hey, liberals, remember, Castro, Stalin and Hitler took away the guns of the people in order to better control the populace - - - what's your reason for wanting to take our guns?

Damn, I fell short of my gold star (barely) - - - huh? Sorry. . . Inside Joke.
