What's with New Year's Resolutions, anyway?

Happy New Year's Eve - What's with these resolutions?

I never understood New Year's Resolutions. We break them every year. So what's the point in making them?

Every year for years and years I resolved to quit smoking. The year I quit, I didn't make the resolution.

And some resolutions are downright ridiculous.

*Some folks promise to "give more to charities." How can you give "more" when you don't give in the first place? Besides, do you really have to make a resolution to make that decision? Hmmm, how about, "There's enough extra money in my bank account so I'm giving to a cause that is near and dear to my heart;" or "I'm so broke I'm surprised the charities haven't been giving me gift baskets!"

*I read one on a site I visited recently that stated: "My New Year Resolution is to stop stealing." What? How about getting caught, buddy. That'll make ya stop. Jeez, people have no self-discipline.

*Many people I know choose their resolution to be, "To meet my soulmate." Oh, yeah, that's something to plan. That's why the dang divorce rate is so high. Don't make it like a stupid gameshow, dummies. Do it like the old days. Meet someone nice, court them for YEARS rather than two weeks, don't have sex with them, and then get married because you and the other person didn't drive each other nuts during the courtship. Too old fashioned? It worked better than what is being tried nowadays. Folks, it's called going back to basics.

*One of my favorites is: "To Win the Lottery." I don't even want to justify the idiocy of that one with a comment, but I will. There's nothing wrong with playing the lottery. I play every once in a while. It's downright enjoyable to throw a few bucks into the trash every once in a while. But to think that winning is likely is idiotic. It's fun to play, but realize that those few bucks are essentially throwaway money. You have a better chance being hit by lightning twice while dancing naked in the Mohave Desert.

*"Lose Weight." Stop eating so much.

*"Make more money." Go to work in the first place.

*"Be nicer to people." That's funny. If someone has to make a resolution to convince themselves to be nicer to people, they have bigger problems than just being a jackass.

*"To stop drinking so much." The people who say this one on New Year's Eve are usually the same ones with the most empty bottles of booze lined up next to them on the table in the far corner of the lonliest room at the New Year's Eve Party, with their head facing forehead down into a pool of liquid that has made its way from their mouth to the tabletop. Okay, here's how I did it. I drank, I got drunk, I puked, got sick of it, don't drink so much anymore. Yes, if you set your mind to it, it's that easy. If it isn't that easy, no resolution will solve your problem. Call AA. Oh, and if that doesn't help, my biological father was an alcoholic and it killed him. Still want to drink so much? I hope not.

*"Forget my mistakes and move forward in life." This is good, sounds noble and fair. But think about it, numbskull; if you forget your mistakes, you'll commit them again. How about forgiving yourself of your mistakes, and turning away from the activities that led to those mistakes in the first place? That's right, my friend, you shouldn't be asking for amnesia, you should be asking for a change of heart.

*"To be more loving to my mate." Hey, when you're so drunk your mate looks like they did twenty years ago, don't you wind up kissing them on New Year's Eve anyway?

*"To be more tolerant." Hey, I try to be as fair as the next guy, but I refuse to tolerate prayers to Allah on the plane by people with turbans on their heads, planes flying into buildings, and whack-job dictators bent on my nation's destruction. Otherwise, I think we are all pretty tolerant already. I think the leftwing nuts who can't tolerate "Merry Christmas" being spoken, or a cross on a hill over the freeway needs to be making that resolution, to be honest.

*A friend of mine said to me the other day, "My New Year's Resolution is to be more honest." Well, there goes that one out the window already. Next?

Let's face it, my dear friends, Hell is paved with good intentions. Resolutions, I suppose, mean well, but they usually last as long as Saddam on a short rope. Rather than making a bunch of resolutions we don't plan of keeping, how about we use some common sense this year, be friendly to our neighbors even though the branches of their annoying tree are hanging over the fence and we have to trim them every week, let in a few folks on the roadway even though a dozen more cars will squeeze in behind them, and turn away from our bad habits even though they will haunt us until we give in.

Oh, and let's not forget, whatever we do, let's thank God that we make it through another year, and pray we make it through a few more.

Be careful, folks. Drink responsibly, moderately, and come back next year in one piece to continue reading the commentaries on A Right Angle in a Left Turn World, would ya.

I worry about you guys, and I feel honored to call you all my friends.

See you next year!

Death of a Tyrant

The Death of a Tyrant: Saddam is Dead

At six o'clock in the morning, Baghdad time, Saddam Hussein was hung by the neck until dead. A fitting end to a remorseless dictator that through his regime killed, tortured, raped and terrorized his own people, and his neighbors, for over two decades. The ruthless tyrant had about 40 of his own relatives murdered, and so far 300,000 shallow mass graves of murdered Iraqis have been found.

In the 1980's he orchestrated chemical attacks against Kurdish villages, as well as against Iranians and his own Iraqi people.

In 1990 the Iraqi Regime invaded Kuwait, killing 1,000 Kuwaitis.

In 1991 his suppression of Kurdish and Shi'a uprisings resulted in the deaths of tens of thousands more, including the destruction of 2,000 Kurdish villages.

The end of the 69 year old leader has escalated the terror alert level.

Finally, Saddam Hussein gets to meet his seventy-two virgins, but I don't think they are exactly as he expected:

P.S. My operation was a success, but I am in a good deal of pain. Nonetheless, I just had to drag my carcass out of bed to write this post.

Justice has been served.

A cousin of mine told me when Zarqawi died that I shouldn't celebrate someone's death like that. How about Saddam? Darn straight, I am celebrating the death of this maniacal tyrant.

The world is much better off without him.

The deaths of Gerald Ford and James Brown

My employers are such a grand group of gentlemen.  Last Monday was Christmas, and Friday (I suppose that would be tomorrow for me right now, and today for most of you) I will be diced and sliced in surgery to repair my stomach which is currently the home of two nasty hernias.  So, my employer, out of infinite wisdom, decided that it was the perfect moment to send yours truly out of town for a few days.

Now that I am back from somewhere north of Los Angeles, I wanted to touch on a couple things that happened while I was out of town.

Gerald Ford, the nation's 38th president, the only president never to be elected to office, died at the age of 93 on Tuesday, December 26, 2006.

He may have been many things as president, good and bad, but I will remember him as a man of class.

When Carter narrowly defeated Ford for the presidency in 1976, Ford did not accuse Florida's ballots of being incorrect because of a bunch of chads, or refuse to concede until every last vote was counted.  He conceded with dignity, congratulating the incoming president with class and honor.

Ford did not ask to become president.  He was just filling in.  In fact, I suppose you could say that Ford was an accidental president.  He began as a congressman, appointed to the vice-presidency after 25 years in Congress in 1973 after Spiro Agnew left amid scandal.  Ford was hand-picked by Nixon, which was fitting since he also became Nixon's replacement after Nixon resigned due to pressures applied following Watergate.

Gerald Ford was a man that believed in his nation, and believed in God.  When he took office, he said, "I am acutely aware that you have not elected me as your president by your ballots.  So I ask you to confirm me with your prayers."

Imagine someone saying that in today's politically correct world.

Ford shortly after granted Nixon a pardon for all alleged crimes he committed as president.  Some believe it is that decision that led to his eventual defeat in the 1976 election.

The fall of Saigon occurred during his presidency in April of 1975, signalling the end of the Vietnam War.  His speech following that event included words from Lincoln saying, "America can now look forward to an agenda for the future, to unify, to bind up the nation's wounds."

He was an open man, plain and honest.  Even after two attempts on his life by would-be assassins, he remained that way.

A graduate of Michigan University and a star football player, few envisioned young Jerry Ford to be a future president of the United States.

Ford also served on the Warren Commission that investigated the assassination of President Kennedy.

The most notible occurrence during his presidency, aside from pardoning Nixon and the end of the Vietnam War happened May 12, 1975 when Cambodia seized an American merchant ship, the Mayaguez, in international waters.  Ford acted quickly, utilizing U.S. forces to raid a Cambodian island and recapture the vessel.  Cambodia released all crew members shortly after.  40 U.S. servicemen were killed during the effort.

In 1978, after his wife's bout with alcoholism, the Betty Ford Center was founded.

President Ford will be most remembered for taking on the presidency at a volatile time, keeping the country on course.  As Ford's former chief-of-staff once said, "President Ford had to bring our country back and make it whole again and he did it with dignity, he did it with great, great skill and sensitivity."

A billboard sign advertising James Brown coming to the Harrah's Casino in San Diego still stands along the interstate in Southern California.  I saw it yesterday as I drove my big-rig home from north of Los Angeles.  It was haunting, seeing his image on that sign, on his knees, microphone held inverted to his wailing lips.

James Brown, the Godfather of Soul, passed on the day prior to Ford's death, on Christmas Day.  He was 73.

A leftwing commenter on my Political Pistachio Blog once compared my work ethic to that of James Brown's, and I never thanked her for that compliment.  James Brown was definitely the hardest working man in show business.  He was known for his elastic dance moves, and all-out performances.  He was, literally, an impossible act to follow.

According to an article at CNN.com I read, The Rolling Stones were heard to remark that they were terrified to come on after Brown in a 1964 concert.

He created funk in the 1960's that today lives on, with grooves sampled by pop artists, rappers and hip-hop artists.

His legacy lives on, and those of us old enough, or fortunate enough to see him perform, will never forget how he closed his performances.  James Brown would fall to his knees, wailing into the microphone, become covered with a cape, be led almost completely off stage, still singing quietly, and then rise again to return to the center of the stage, bringing the crowd screaming to its feet.  That type of closing suggested nothing less than a hard work ethic, and love for the fans.

As I am sure James Brown hoped for, he will live on forever in our hearts.

Merry Christmas

Merry Christmas

So many news items have come up since my last post, and I feel like writing about all of them. However, in my heart I know that for the next few days all of these political things that the world continually throws at us is minor. Now it is time to celebrate the birth of our Lord. Granted, Jesus Christ was not technically born in December, and the three wise men actually didn't show up at his birth, but rather a year or so later. But splitting hairs is not what this is about. Christmas is a celebration of God made into flesh. An opportunity to honor the birth of the man that was born to die so that we may live.

There are many ideas regarding what following Christ represents, and I am here to tell you that I follow what is biblical. No modern day prophets, no spaceships in a comet, and nothing that claims Jesus was simply a good man.

Scripture states that Jesus Christ was born as a child. God made into flesh. The savior of mankind. The Messiah.

He has blessed me in many ways, and one such testimony to what He has done for me in my life is posted on one of my Christian Blogs. The link to the post on that blog is at the end of this post. Please visit it, and read it.

Some of you who know me well know that He literally saved my life, my marriage, and my soul. Perhaps sometime I will post the story about how I nearly died, and through God's grace, I survived.

Until then, let us celebrate Christ's birth.

Merry Christmas.

Matthew 11:28-30 (King James Version)
28Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.
29Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.
30For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.

Luke 2:10-11 (King James Version)
10And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people.
11For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord.

Luke 2:14 (King James Version)
14Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men.

Isaiah 7:14 (King James Version)
14Therefore the Lord himself shall give you a sign; Behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel.

Matthew 1:23 (King James Version)
23Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us.

Isaiah 9:6 (King James Version)
6For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.

John 3:16 (King James Version)
16For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

Taliban Commander killed in Afghanistan

An airstrike close to the border with Pakistan has been reported to have killed a close associate of Osama bin Laden.  The death of the Taliban leader, Mullah Omar, and one of his top associates, Mullah Akhtar Mohammad Osmani, has been denied by the Taliban.

According to military spokesmen, Osmani played a central role in terrorist operations and was a top commander of Taliban operations in the south.

As the dominoes fall, so does the Taliban.

I have written a long article regarding the charging of the Marines accused of the alleged Massacre of Haditha on Political Pistachio.  Pay it a visit.  The post is well worth reading.

Ahmadinejad declares Iran is now a nuclear power

Y-net news reported today that Iran's President, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad declared that Iran is now a nuclear power.

He is well aware that such an announcement will increase tensions with The West, and it is expected that Iran will share their nuclear technology with their Muslim allies while condemning Israel's nuclear development.

Ahmadinejad sees this as an accomplishment not only because Iran has joined the nuclear age, but because they did it without the help of any of the major powers that already boast nuclear capabilities.

Iran still claims that their nuclear plans are only designed for peaceful intentions, but you and I both know that this is a load of bologna.  Ahmadinejad defied all diplomatic attempts to prevent the nation from going nuclear, and will defy world opinion again when they share their technology with their neighbors.

And this news come from a nation that promises that Israel and the nations of the West will be destroyed.

And this is the guy that the Iraq Study Group Report suggests we talk to for assistance with Iraq and the Israeli conflict with the Palestinians.

Iran will celebrate their nuclear victory soon, says Ahmadinejad.

Yeah, probably by dropping a bomb on Israel.

Will the world ever wake up and realize that guys like Ahmadinejad can't be trusted?

Separation of Church and State

There seems to be an increased interest in the discussion regarding whether or not God is offensive.

You know, like the recent stirrings regarding the battle lines that have been drawn in regards to the war on Christmas.

Let us not fool ourselves.  This isn't over whether or not a Christmas tree is offensive to a Rabbi in Seattle, or if trash collectors should be allowed to where Santa hats in Michigan, or if a department store should greet their customers with "Happy Holidays" or "Merry Christmas."  This is over the age old argument of whether or not there is a God.

Does it really matter?  How important is this issue?  Is this anything new?

It matters.  It matters greatly.

The proponents of the War of Christianity and Judaism (and mark my words, that is what this is.  A War) have used various arguments over the ages.  Now, armed with their politically correct vestiges of gnosticism, those that would like to murder God claims that Christianity is out to establish a theocracy worldwide, and that the very mention of anything Godlike is offensive, and must be stricken from our enlightened society.  How do we know this?  We read about it daily in newspapers, magazines, and on the internet.

But what is at the root of this war on God?  As I like to say, quoting Brad Stine, "Who is more irrational?  A man who believes in a God he doesn't see?  Or a man who's offended by a God he doesn't believe in?"

Along with Christ's teachings of peace, forgiveness, love, blessings, and all of the things that our sick world desires, Christ also taught us about sin, judgement, and everlasting punishment.

Accountability and consequences is not something human beings like to address.  We would prefer to think of ourselves as essentially good.  It is natural for humans who have a naturally sinful nature to be offended when confronted with the truth.  Pointing out that we are doing something wrong triggers a negative and irritating response, and the symbols of God's truth and authority are reminders of that truth.

The goal, I think, is to distance oneself from anything that teaches judgement and consequences.  How can anything be wrong if the line is blurred between right and wrong.  If something is no longer a sin, then that makes people non-sinners.  Everything is okay, because what was once bad is no longer wrong.

But Christianity reminds such people that no matter how much science and psychology society can use to justify a sinful action, it is still a sin.  "How dare those Christians say that what I have decided to be good to be bad!  How offensive!"

And this is not only a phenomenon that takes place in the United States.  The attempt to crush Christianity is worldwide, and much worse elsewhere.  The United States is finally just catching up.

Problem for the enemy is that people, for the most part, do not accept their claims that Christianity is an ignorant, narrow-minded belief system.  In fact, the exact opposite is true.

Example:  After public outcry, the Christmas trees were returned to that airport in Seattle.

According to an e-mail from a friend I just received recently, sorry I don't have a source, 87% of Americans believe that there is a God.  60% believes that Christ is the Son of God.

If that is true, and I have a feeling it is pretty close to being accurate, the war on Christmas and Christianity is being waged by a minority of people - to the point that they are resorting to using the law to attempt to achieve their agenda.

Surely, you've heard the argument that the United States Constitution demands that we have a separation of Church and State.

Does it?

If one looks closely, no legitimate church is entangled with the state, and the words of the Constitution are very clear on what it intended, yet somehow those that desire to crush the church has taken it and twisted these words to the point that nobody seems to be sure what the intention of the Constitution was in the first place.

Amidst arguments over rulings by the courts that the pledge of allegiance to the flag of the United States is unconstitutional because the words "under God" violates the supposed Constitutional demand for separation of church and state, the disallowance of our children to say grace aloud before snack time at school, the objections to the word Christmas ever appearing on government property, Christmas decorations in schools, the Ten Commandments in courtrooms, prayers before high school football games, and thanking God in speeches by valedictorians during commencement ceremonies, we fail to recognize that the Separation of Church and State is NOT in the Constitution.

Here is the text of the first amendment to the Constitution, the first of the Bill of Rights that deals with the establishment of religion.

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.

The words "church" and "separation" are not even contained in the amendment.  Actually, the phrase first appeared in a letter written by Thomas Jefferson, while he was president, to the Danbury Baptist Association of Connecticut.  Jefferson clearly said in the letter that government would not establish a national religion or dictate to the people of the United States how to worship God.  Some of the letter is as follows:

I contemplate with solemn reverence that act of the whole American people which declared that their legislature should "make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof," thus building a wall of separation between Church and State.

First of all, that letter was not legislation, nor proposed legislation.  It was a private letter to a church group.  A denomination.  Furthermore, regardless of its viability in relation to the law books, the letter specifically dictates that government may not establish religion, or prohibit the church's rights to exercise worship freely.  The "wall of separation between Church and State" is intended to protect the church from governmental intrusion, not the other way around.

Now don't get me wrong, I feel the need to enable those who read this to understand, I am not saying that the church should have free reign of government.  That is what the proponents of "separation of church and state" would have you believe.  They assume that since we feel that the separation of church and state should not apply to Christian influences on government, that the goal of the "Bible thumpers" is to create a theocracy.

My dear, misguided Leftists, don't be so naive.

Now, let's also understand that the word church does not necessarily relate to religion as a whole.  Biblically, the word "church" is used in two senses.  The universal church consists of all those that have had fellowship with God, dead or alive.  This church was founded by God.  Local churches consist of those currently alive, having a local organization, composing of those in and out of fellowship with God.  These churches are founded by people.

There is a third way the word "church" is used, but it's not used in the Holy Bible.  The use is in reference to denomination, which refers to local churches working together.  Essentially, a collection of congregations.

No denominations existed in the New Testament.

Understand that when Jefferson wrote the letter to the Baptists, it was a denomination he was not a member of.  He did not want the Baptists to feel that one denomination should (or was trying to) dictate over another, so in hopes of establishing common ground with the Baptists, he borrowed the words concerning the separation of church and state from Roger Williams, one of the Baptist's own prominent ministers.

The American people came to the New World to escape a state established denomination like The Church of England.  England had gone as for as forbidding worship in private homes, sponsoring all church activities and strictly dictating all church functions.  No other churches were allowed to exist in England.  Failure to comply with the established state sponsored church would result in imprisonment and torture.

Americans were not interested in freedom from religion, but freedom of religion.

Clearly, Jefferson was referring to a national denomination when he stated "separation of church and state" knowing that the state creating its own denomination is what had led them to come to the New World in the first place.

But the separation of a denomination and the state is not what drives the present escalating restrictions against the church today.

No specific local church, universal church, or denomination is involved when the pledge of allegiance to the flag of the United States is recited, or when a child says grace aloud before snack time at school, when the word Christmas appears on government property, Christmas decorations are hung in schools, when one gazes upon the Ten Commandments in courtrooms, when players pray before high school football games, and when a young person thanks God in a speech during commencement ceremonies - regardless of whether or not the separation of church and state idea is valid.

So why the sudden push for this idea of "separation of church and state"?

The present irrational offense to religion and morality was not in existence among the founding fathers.

Presidents throughout our history proclaimed that our liberty and freedom is given to us by God.  Our government has always been made up of moral and religious people.  Christian principles and values founded this nation.  That is not an attempt at a theocracy.  That is an attempt to remain moral and just.

Our Constitution does not support the current definition of the "separation of church and state," but under pressure the judges have decided it does.  The authors of the Constitution did not write the constitution to satisfy the voices of a few loud members of the minority.  The Constitution was not written to have any intention to restrict the expression of religion and morality in our society.

Faith in God and our morality which is based on the teachings of the Bible are the supports by which our government functions.  Without the freedom to consult our God-given moral conscience our government will fail, and the United States will become nothing more than a distant memory in the eyes of future historians.

The goal, I think, is to distance oneself from anything that teaches judgement and consequences.  How can anything be wrong if the line is blurred between right and wrong.  If something is no longer a sin, then that makes people non-sinners.  Everything is okay, because what was once bad is no longer bad.

Christianity reminds us that no matter how much science and psychology can try to justify bad behavior, it is still a sin.  That is what makes our nation tick.  Moral judgement.

Iran would like to assist us withdraw from Iraq

No surprise.  Syria and Iran would like to see the United States leave Iraq.  In fact, they would like to see us leave the entire Middle East.  According to the Jerusalem Post a couple days ago, Iran is so eager to see American Troops depart Iraq that Iran's foreign minister said that Tehran is willing to offer any assistance to help the United States leave.

How thoughtful of them.

Oh, and while they were at it, the Iranian foreign minister, Manouchehr Mottaki, added that "U.S. troops are responsible for at least half the violence tearing apart Iraq and that their departure would pay security dividends for the entire region."

Who's responsible for the other half?  Gnomes?

The dividends I think it would pay is occupation of Iraq by Iran.

The Iranian foreign minister also spouted some drivel about the U.S. needing to change its attitude regarding the Islamic Republic of Iran, but when asked how Iran could assist, he evaded the particulars.

Of course he did.

"When they have decided to withdrawal from Iraq, then we will explain."

How about I explain right now.  Iran cannot be trusted, just like Saddam couldn't be trusted.  If we were to leave the region they would first proclaim it as a military victory against the United States, then occupy Iraq and start killing off Kurds.  Iraq will resume its former place as a training ground for terrorists, and would probably be used as a launching platform for an invasion of Israel.

Then, somehow the liberal left, as the region began to further destablize, would blame the Republicans, and claim that they had wanted to stay in Iraq all along - probably also indicating that they were wanting to increase troop levels but were forced to allow our troops to leave the region as a result of Republican pressure.

Like I said on Political Pistachio in response to a comment, if we leave Iraq, it will collapse faster than South Vietnam did in 1975.

More on the War on Christmas

According to the Associated Press and radio 710 KIRO out of Seattle, all Christmas Trees (the Associated Press referred to them as Holiday Trees) at the Sea-Tac (Seattle-Tacoma) Airport were removed after several community member complaints.  For more than 25 years, the airport has celebrated the holidays with Christmas trees over its entrances. Suddenly, this year, the Port of Seattle ordered all 15 trees removed.  Holiday decorations were allowed to remain but they decided to take down all the Christmas trees after complaints they were offensive. The Port of Seattle claims it had little choice.

One of the complaints came from an area Rabbi with the Central Organization for Jewish Learning.  The Rabbi hired a lawyer and threatened to sue if the airport did not erect an eight-foot menorah to balance the message of the Christmas trees. An airport spokeswoman says the two sides could not reach an agreement before the lawsuit was to be filed. So the trees were removed instead.

This will be one of many, my friends.  Mark my words.

The Sound Of Thunder

In America, when we hear the sound of thunder, it is most often associated with the weather.  This is not necessarily so in Israel.

Israelis live through war upon war.

Members of the Israeli military routinely witness in utter horror the way civilians and children are used as human shields.  An Israeli friend of mine once told me about how he watched three terrorists walk out of a house holding at arms length their own children as human shields.  He also told me how once in Tul-Karem he saw more than ten terrorists hold up in a mosque and after shooting and killing two soldiers.  The terrorists then called the United Nations and the Western Press to show how Israeli soldiers had surrounded the mosque.  What the media did not report, he told me, was how the Israeli troops did not enter the mosque out of respect for religion.

On a forum I am a member of an Israeli poster relayed a story of how he, and a group of fellow Israeli soldiers, stopped an ambulance during Operation Defensive Shield.  The ambulance belonged to Bethlehem, but for some reason was way outside its normal route designation.  Suspicions were heightened when the ambulance made its way through a number of roadblocks.  When he and his fellow Israeli troops opened the back of the emergency vehicle, expecting to see a patient, he saw a vehicle full of terrorists holding guns, and they weren't wounded at all.  Beneath these men in compartments designed for medical supplies was C-4 and grenades.  The foreign press converged on the scene rapidly, jumping all over the "Israeli Army Aggressors" for stopping an ambulance.

Another story relayed to me was regarding a funeral staged for a young adult.  As the procession moved along, unknowingly being filmed by the Israelis, the area around the funeral procession blew up into a battle.  As the fight began, the corpse got up off the stretcher and began firing an automatic weapon.

The mainstream media claims that these incidents are nothing more than myths, and can't be proven.  Some members of the mainstream media (and of the liberal left) actually claim that Israelis make up these things just to make Hezbollah and all of the other terrorists look bad.

Israel exists among enemies.  The liberal media twists the truth to see it in a light more approving of the terrorists.  Israel is always labeled as the aggressor.  They have been ever since the establishment of the State of Israel.  They are always willing to give up land for peace.  Any peace.  Now, with the advent of the Iraq Study Group, Israel is being asked to give up the Golan Heights.  Israel will probably do it.  They are willing to do just about anything for peace.  Peace that never comes, and never will.

Terrorists burn Jewish synagogues with glee.  But the left can't see the hypocrisy in their failure to recognize such atrocities.  They can't recognize what death like that could possibly be.  They don't understand how it could be possible that a mother of a suicide bomber could speak proudly of her dead child, happy that they blew up women and children.

The U.S. advisory group now concludes that Israel must talk to Syria and solve its conflict with the Palestinians to help Bush stabilize Iraq.  Syria will not stop supporting Islamic extremists, and the Israeli issue with Palestine has nothing to do with Iraq.  Israel's Prime Minister, Ehud Olmert, said the Iraq Study Group Report will actually "fuel insurgents and others vying to fill Iraq's security vacuum."

Abdel Moneim Said, head of Al-Ahram Center for Political and Strategic studies in Cairo said that the Iraq Study Group Report would result in "America suffering a loss of its reputation and credibility in the region."

The mainstream media screamed for so long that Al Qaeda had nothing to do with Iraq, but suddenly Iraq has everything to do with Israel's battle with Hezbollah.

This is the same mainstream media that criticized Israel for attacking Hezbollah in response to rocket attacks.

I wonder if the mainstream media would criticize the United States for responding in any way other than burying the dead bodies if rockets were being launched over the border from Mexico into the United States.

Perhaps then, the sound of thunder would mean more than simply a storm to us as well.

The Little Drummer Boy

As Christmas approaches we are constantly reminded that the world desires to be less and less reminded of the reason for the season.  Christ has been removed from Christmas.  When I was a child, I never really thought that it would come to this.  I believed that everyone loved Christmas, and shed tears when they thought about the birth of Jesus, and about the sacrifice he would endure years later.

During those days as a child, The Little Drummer Boy was my favorite Christmas song. The image of an innocent drummer boy with nothing more to offer the King of Kings than a simple song on his drums still brings tears to my eyes when I hear it.

The words and music to the Christmas song Little Drummer Boy was composed by Katherine K. Davis, Henry Onorati and Harry Simeone in 1958. A huge hit by many artists over the decades, Little Drummer Boy's most notable rendition was by the unlikely duo of Bing Crosby and David Bowie.

The story relayed in the lyrics is of a drummer boy, a poor boy like the baby Jesus, who witnesses the gifts given to the child by the three wise men. Having no gift to give fit to give a King, the boy resolves to play his drum. He plays his best, knowing that his simple song is the only gift he has to give. And in the end, the baby Jesus smiles at the little drummer boy, signalling acceptance of the humble gift.

My favorite Christmas program was a stop-action puppet production that first aired in 1968 by the same name, The Little Drummer Boy. Rankin/Bass produced the program based on the song which accompanied their other classics, Santa Claus is Coming to Town, Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer, and Frosty the Snowman. Of the four classics, Little Drummer Boy is the only one that no longer airs on network television. The timeless message of Christ in Little Drummer Boy can now only be found on the family stations, but only if you search hard enough. A sign of our times, I suppose, considering that The Little Drummer Boy is the only one of those programs that even mentions the name of Jesus Christ.

Little Drummer Boy

Come they told me, pa rum pum pum pum
A new born King to see, pa rum pum pum pum
Our finest gifts we bring, pa rum pum pum pum
To lay before the King, pa rum pum pum pum, rum pum pum pum, rum pum pum pum,

So to honor Him, pa rum pum pum pum,
When we come.

Little Baby, pa rum pum pum pum
I am a poor boy too, pa rum pum pum pum
I have no gift to bring, pa rum pum pum pum
That's fit to give the King, pa rum pum pum pum, rum pum pum pum, rum pum pum pum,

Shall I play for you, pa rum pum pum pum,
On my drum?

Mary nodded, pa rum pum pum pum
The ox and lamb kept time, pa rum pum pum pum
I played my drum for Him, pa rum pum pum pum
I played my best for Him, pa rum pum pum pum, rum pum pum pum, rum pum pum pum,

Then He smiled at me, pa rum pum pum pum
Me and my drum.

Using our Liberty as a weapon

We live with standards and freedoms here in America like no other nation on this planet.  We play by the rules of morality and fair play.  Now we need to recognize that the enemy does not play by the same rules that we do.

Idiots like Rosie O'Donnell, when she makes statements like "but they are mothers and fathers too," proves that she has no idea what she's talking about.  She is making the same mistake most liberals make.  They want to apply American standards to an ideology that not only thinks nothing like us, but is only interested in killing us.

One thing that I can say for sure, the enemy learns quickly.

Terrorists are abusing our rights, using them to threaten and kill Americans.  Rather than worry so much about whether or not they have a place to pray at the airport, we need to be profiling them, and refusing to allow the enemy to use free speech as a cover while they plan to kill us.

The mainstream media refuses to accept that truth.  That's why they don't print it when the Iranian leader, Ahmadinejad, threatens to kill Americans in large numbers if we don't submit to his demands.  The mainstream media ignores the camps near and around Iraq that are dedicated to recruiting and training terrorists.  They dismiss the fact that the Jihad is also using the internet to recruit.  The mainstream media recently failed to mention that groups like Hezbollah are building franchises, especially in Latin America.

According to our Constitution the idea of free speech cannot be used as a shield for murderers, yet the liberal left, the mainstream media, and the politically stupid are allowing terrorists to do exactly that.

My friends, the Islamic Terrorist Networks around this globe are committed to terror.  They consider themselves weapons, and they don't follow any rules of engagement.  their primary goal is to convert you, or kill you.

Our liberty is being used by the Islamic Radicals to intimidate us, as they did on a U.S. Airways flight recently in Minneapolis.  They knew what they were doing.  Their suspicious behavior wasn't simply an act of prayer.  And wasn't it amazing how quickly they produced a lawyer arguing that their rights had been violated, and isn't it interesting how easily the mainstream media fell for it.

The airline acted properly.

Would you have felt comfortable on that plane?

Especially after the six imams mimicked the September 11 hijackers by boarding together, and then spreading out once aboard, some taking seats not assigned to them, I would have been just as nervous as those people were that day.

We must not bow down to this.  We must not allow our liberties to be used as a weapon against us.  Those six imams were testing us, and if we fail that test now, another 9/11 is on the horizon.

The Never-Ending War

The battle between the Muslim World and Israel goes back to a time long before Israel becoming a nation again in 1948. The battle between the Muslim World and Israel goes back to a time long before the birth of America. The battle between the Muslim World and Israel goes back to a time long before the birth of Muhammad. The battle between the ancestors of the Muslim World began long before the birth of Christ.

The War on Terror is a war against the ideology of Islam that will never be won. Battles can be won, but the war will always rage on.

The Muslim World is a single unit. The nations of the Muslim World, which are growing in number, are all allies with each other, sharing the common desires to annihilate Israel, eliminate Christianity, and spread their Religion of Violence around the globe.

It wasn't until September 11, 2001 that they felt that they could take on the United States of America successfully. The growth of Political Correctness, Liberalism, and Socialistic attitudes geared at questioning the position of God in our society told Islamofascism that the time was ripe for an attack. Combined with flying airliners into buildings cherished by the American nation - an attack they hoped would divide the United States into quarreling segments, and then societal attacks regarding exposing American liberties and raising questions in regards to profiling and religious freedoms, they believed they could bring down America.

Something went wrong. First, one of the planes did not reach the intended target that was the White House thanks to the men and women of United 93. Second, after the Twin Towers and Pentagon were hit, America united. The President of the United States vowed to hunt down and punish those responsible. Republicans and Democrats joined together to support the new War on Terror, and we took our troops to Afghanistan to search for Osama Bin Laden.

As the War on Terror progressed, liberals began to rethink their decision. As the war progressed, unknown variables made themselves known. As the war progressed, we realized that we did not declare war on Osama Bin Laden when we declared war on terror. We declared war on the entire Muslim World, or at least that's how the Islamic world saw it, and they banded together in unison to take on the great Satan from the West. Terror-cells began appearing everywhere. Our intelligence began to discover how the nations of the Muslim World helped each other in funding terror, training terrorists, working together to create weapons of mass destruction, keep the common citizens under their thumb, and keep the dictators in power.

With the religious fervor of Islam, well placed propaganda and intimidation tactics, the religious leaders and dictators have nothing to worry about when it comes to their own people. Fear is a powerful tool. Combined with lies, one can make a population believe just about anything. However, any Christian presence in the Muslim World must be eliminated, for it is Christianity that can expose the lies for what they are, and destroy Islam from within. The goal of eliminating all non-Muslims from the Muslim world has always been present, but not the push is stronger than ever. The recent news in Lebanon, such as the murder of a Christian politician in Beirut, is evidence of that.

Something else went wrong for Islam. The United States was willing to give up certain freedoms and liberties for safety, and another attack on the United States was near impossible. No problem. They began to hit Europe. Spain dropped out of the war under the pressure of terrorism, and many of the nations of Europe began to blame the U.S. presence in the Middle East for the terrorist attacks.

Just as Islam had hoped.

In the meantime, as the War on Terror spread into Iraq, the liberal left in the United States, and the liberal American media, decided to become allied with the enemy. The mainstream media committed what would have been considered in any other day in age actions that were nothing less than treason. The Democratic Party began undermining America's leadership, committing their own acts of treason. Suddenly, they forgot about how we were originally united in the fight against terrorism.

An anti-Bush campaign was launched. They called him a liar. Called him unprepared. Accused him and his administration of mismanaging the war, and mismanaging the country. The United States of America became divided, just as the Islamic terrorist network had originally desired.

As far as Islam was concerned, better late than never.

Now, Congress has been handed to the people that most wants to defeat America. Terror attacks have already escalated, and the Democrats haven't even officially taken power yet.

Iraq says they can protect themselves in seven months. Bush was happy to hear that. The left says that that means even Bush is going to cut and run. No, you idiots, that was the goal all along. To eliminate the dictator, take Iraq out of the ring of nations that supports terrorism, and then assist them in getting to the point that they don't need us as a force in Iraq anymore. However, we should not pull out quickly, and we should not leave completely. Otherwise, Iran and Syria will seize the opportunity, and another Saddam will wind up in control, but this one will be worse, because he will be a religious leader that will stir the pot, and create the same fervor that is running rampant through the other Muslim nations.

If we do not stay strong, stay present in that region, and stick to our guns in this War on Terror, Israel will be in serious danger, and we will be hit in ways that will make 9/11 look like a cake walk.

For those of you on the left, and you know who you are, don't tell me that our presence in Iraq or any other Muslim country is what brings terroristic wrath upon us. We were not in Iraq, Afghanistan, and we were not waging war on terror when 9/11 happened, so don't feed me that line.

I agree that this will never end, but just because we will never be able to completely win this war on terror, it doesn't mean we should abandon the cause. Cutting and running, or what the left calls redistribution, will give the terrorists a victory in their minds, just as they claim victory as a result of Israel's cease-fire with Hezbollah.

It is a never-ending war, but it must be fought. We must stick to our resolve. We must be united.

God Bless America.
